The health, safety and well-being of our customers, employees and community members are always our top priority. During this extraordinary time of government mandated restrictions designed to limit exponential spread of COVID- 19, Charles River Bank is implementing the following changes. Our goals are to enforce social distancing and help limit potential exposure of our staff and customers to this virus. By taking these steps, we hope to keep all of our offices operating and meet your banking needs throughout this unprecedented public health crisis.

Branch Lobbies

To protect our staff members and customers, we are limiting access to our branch lobbies.  Banking transactions that would usually be conducted at the teller line must be transacted through the Drive-Up, the ATM, or our Online or Mobile Banking Services.

For more complex banking transactions, or to access your Safe Deposit Box, schedule an appointment by calling your local branch or email us ( Please remember: email is not secure). Scheduling your visit will allow us to prepare in advance and assist you in the most effective and efficient way possible.  We can also conduct more thorough cleaning of surfaces between customer visits.

How to access your accounts

Convenient Ways to Conduct Banking Transactions from Your Home or Office

Charles River Bank offers many alternate banking solutions for those who wish to avoid public places or cannot visit us in person during this time due to illness or quarantine, including:

Online and Mobile Banking Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any computer, laptop, or mobile device.  You can access all your Charles River Bank accounts, including business accounts, and complete most of your banking from your home or office.

  • Deposit checks with Mobile Banking
  • Move money between your CRB accounts
  • Move money to or from your accounts at other financial institutions
  • Check your balance, review account activity, see your check images
  • Transfer money to pay your CRB mortgage or loan
  • Pay bills
  • Pay another person electronically
  • Set up Debit Card usage notifications, freeze and reactivate your card
  • Wire money (contact a member of our Customer Care Team to set this up in advance)

Debit Card With your Charles River Bank debit card, you can get cash, and avoid ATM surcharges by using one of the thousands of SUM® or MoneyPass® ATMs. You can also ask for cash back when shopping for groceries and at other major retailers.

New Accounts Current customers can quickly and easily open a new Checking, Savings or Certificate of Deposit while securely signed in to Online or Mobile Banking without additional identity verification. Non-customers, or customers adding a new joint customer, can click here to open a new account.

Mortgages Visit our online Mortgage Center for anything mortgage related including pre-qualifying for a new mortgage, refinancing your current mortgage, applying for a home equity loan or line of credit, or just learning more about our current rates.

In accordance with CDC guideline, if you or an immediate family member are experiencing a fever or respiratory illness is in mandatory or voluntary quarantine, or if you have recently travelled to CDC Level 2 or 3 countries, please do not visit our offices to conduct your banking transactions. Instead, please:

  • Use our Online or Mobile Banking Services as described above
  • Conduct your transaction from the drive-up. Notify the teller of your status, before sending your transaction through the pneumatic tube
  • Use the ATM
  • Do not visit any Charles River Bank location for at least 2 weeks after your return from CDC Level 2 or 3 countries

Be aware of Coronavirus-scams

As too often is the case, periods of uncertainty are often accompanied by fraud-related attempts. Scammers have been setting up fraudulent websites to sell virus-related products and using emails and social media in attempts to steal your personal and financial information. The Federal Trade Commission offers these tips to protect yourself:

  • Never click on links from institutions unfamiliar to you. Doing so, could result in having a virus downloaded onto your computer or device.
  • Ensure you have up-to-date virus software and the latest updates downloaded on your computer or device.
  • Be on the alert for false emails from what appears to be the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Instead, visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention official website as well as the World Health Organization (WHO) website.
  • Ignore ads and online offers promoting vaccines, preventions, treatment, or cure claims for the Coronavirus.

Remember, Charles River Bank will never call you, unsolicited, and ask for
information about your accounts.
If you suspect you have been the victim of fraud, please contact the Bank immediately.

We are prepared

We are Prepared
Charles River Bank is prepared for continuity of service during any emergencies, natural disasters and situations like we are experiencing with the spread of the coronavirus.  Our employees are cross-trained and able to cover other employees who may not be able to work. Many of our team members are working remotely from home during this time to reduce the number of people moving throughout our offices.

Limiting lobby access will allow us the time to clean surfaces between each customer visit. We continue to adhere to strict cleaning routines for all bank equipment, especially those used in public areas. We are monitoring employees for any signs of illness and any employee who is feeling ill or exhibiting symptoms of illness (including respiratory disease or fever), or has a family member who is ill is asked to stay home.  Our employees will not be participating in any large group functions or community events until there is consensus that the community spread threat for coronavirus has passed.
